Rolex Submariner 16613 Serti (Gem-set) dial or also sometimes called the Sultan (Sovereign in Middle-East) dial submariner 16613- a stunning gem-set dial that can take you from day to night. The two-tone 18 carat gold, 8 diamond hour markers with 3 sapphire indexes breathes a sense of romance into an otherwise boring run of the mill Rolex Submariner that has hardly ever changed since its inception. Also how often can you say that your watch has a sultan dial, it just sounds so bad-ass!
Rolex traditionally makes two types of watches – the sporty submariner and explorer watches, and the luxury dress watches like the day date/date just. Rolex married the two, sporty and dressy. The Rolex Serti 16613 submariner is the exquisite result. It is a new take on the classic Rolex dive watch, accented by the gems and gold centre links on the oyster bracelet. A watch that I can wear in formal attire and a watch that I can wear with casual wear.
The iridescence of the champagne dial commands attention and is a beautiful canvas for the diamonds and sapphires. The watch can be dressed down on a leather strap or even Nato and of course be worn on the TT oyster bracelet to retain it’s intended look of luxury.
Possibly the most underrated submariner, the Rolex Serti 16613 submariner was in production since 1988 and was then replaced, adding to its rarity and mystery. Also dimensions wise the 16613 Serti retains the pre-ceramic age Submariner bezel and dial dimensions that everyone grew to love.
Many might not agree, but to me this is easily the most versatile of all Rolex submariners. A true luxury watch that contains the DNA of an iconic Rolex offering. On top of that, you can probably purchase the Rolex Submariner 16613 Serti for a similar price to a Stainless Steel variant of the submariner. It comes as no surprise that it is my go-to watch for all occasions.
