Owner Review: Casio World Time AKA Casio Royal Review

Casio World Time

Today I present to you the humble yet incredibly well loved Casio AE-1200WH AKA Casio World Time or Casio Royale. This particular timepiece isn’t anything special nor is it trying to be and for that very reason it is priced accordingly. Some people think of it as a ‘Bond Watch‘ as it pays homage to the Seiko G757 worn by the 8th best 007 Roger Moore in the film Octopussy (1983). Sadly that particular model isn’t produced anymore but luckily for us the Casio World Time is a great affordable alternative.

Priced somewhere between $40 to $50, you get the following incredible features: -10 year lithium battery, yes 10 years – LCD display – World time and a World Map – Stop watch – Count down timer – 100m water rating – 80s charm and a whole lot of fun. So you get a whole lot of watch for very little money. Try getting all the features above in a (insert any Swiss brand here).

How does it wear you ask? It is incredibly comfortable and it’s light as a feather given everything is basically made out of plastic apart from the caseback and strap. Sometimes you will forget that you even have a watch on. How does it feel you ask? (What is with all the questions?) Well… that will depend on where you sit in the horology snob chart. For me, this is a fun watch, no need to overthink it. It does everything you need it to do and more plus it doesn’t bankrupt you in the process. The quality of the Casio World Time can be questioned, but one needs to put things into perspective when reviewing this type of watch. Afterall, it’s a $50 watch… Either you’ll wear it, or it will languish in a drawer until the end of time.
