The Tudor Pelagos Left Hand Drive or LHD employs an MT5612 in house COSC certified calibre, titanium case and bracelet, helium escape valve, 500m of water resistance and Tudor’s proprietary spring-loaded clasp. Putting this watch on the wrist you immediately recognise the traits that make the LHD unique.

The hands and markers are given a slight vanilla tone to evoke a vintage connection without going over the top (other brands take note); the roulette date wheel compliments the red Pelagos script superbly, giving just the right amount of colour to an otherwise monochromatic design. And of course, the crown is on the left side of the case. On wrist the Pelagos wears well, with the weight of the titanium (or lack thereof) and genius spring-loaded clasp ensuring the watch feels at home on the wrist.

When the lights are off the Pelagos reveals intense lume radiating from the dial, hands and bezel. It’s bright. Really bright. Very few watches can compete and if you want to get fellow watch enthusiasts excited, just light this bad boy up for a good time. From the finishing of the watch to its construction, the value on offer is outstanding. This watch boasts a spec sheet comparable with timepieces in price points much higher than its own.

Downsides? At 42mm across and almost 15mm tall, these dimensions may prove too cumbersome for some. It’s not quite a dive watch that you can wear with a suit due to its thickness and I do wish it was slightly slimmer, though I can forgive it for its impressive depth rating.

Further, there is just slightly too much text on that dial. Did we really need ‘rotor-self winding’ planted above the depth rating? Just one less line of text would have resulted in a much cleaner appearance.
A thoroughly modern tool watch with vintage cues and exceptional value, the Tudor Pelagos LHD is a winner none the less.
