Owner Review: Tudor Pelagos Blue – a daily beater

Tudor Pelagos Blue 25600TB

Since I started to collect watches, I have been searching for that one watch that I could wear on a daily basis, without having to worry about what would happen during the day. I settled on choosing the Tudor Pelagos Blue 25600TB.

It is a very sturdy watch and I love the fact that it isn’t a vintage reissue. It’s a modern watch that learns from its predecessors (Tudor submariner) and stays true to the brand’s DNA (shield, snowflake, strength, durability and value).

First off the blue color catches you off guard. It’s not a traditional sunburst blue, but a deep “plastic” blue. The texture of the dial gives it a great variation of depth, and the matte ceramic bezel compliments it well, giving the watch a lot of character.

Contrasting with that strong blue color are the white hands and markers. They stand out so well, with that large snowflaque hour hand, that you can read the time precisely with just a quick glance at your wrist.
At this point I have to mention the lume. Hands, index and inscriptions on the bezel shine so strong that it often surprises you when walking in the shadow of a building, under a tree or entering your garage and seeing them pop out! It is very intense, and even though I am not a diver, I can imagine this being very efficient when under water.

The bezel is very useful (yes I do use it regularly as a time reference), and it blocks naturally when setting back at 12 o’clock. Like many other things in this watch, it is attention to small details that makes it a really excellent daily tool.

Comfort on the wrist is optimal, even though I have a small wrist (16cm). This is due to the perfectly designed clasp and the use of titanium. The watch is literally glued to the wrist.

The MT5612 in-house automatic movement is precise and robust. I have no issue with the Tudor Pelagos Blue 25600TB except maybe the thickness under a shirt sleeve.

  1. […] are spot on. Grade 2 titanium, 42mm diameter, lug to lug 49mm, case thickness 13mm. Coming from a Tudor Pelagos (14mm), this piece seems to sit with a lower profile which is odd given it’s only 1mm height […]
