Owner Review: Oris Divers Sixty Five Two Tone “Bico”

Oris Divers Sixty Five two tone

The Sixty Five Series is probably Oris’ most popular model series, with a decent range of colour options. Inspired by an Oris divers watch first released in 1965. Today we will be looking at the Oris Divers Sixty Five Two Tone otherwise known as the Divers 65 Bico. You can find the review for the steel variation here.

First impressions are really good. I bought it without trying it. It’s got a beautiful deep blue dial. Depending on the light conditions it can go from royal blue in sunshine, to an almost black in dark light conditions. The hands have a well suited rose gold colour, and the text and logo on the dial has a very nice complimentary golden/bronze accent.

The bicolour bracelet and bezel are the trademarks of this watch and it is probably down to a personal sense of taste whether you like it or not. But it is what makes this watch stand out from the crowd, and gives it a really classy feel.

One of my biggest fears was the colour of the bronze and hoping that it didn’t have a rose tone. But I found that it had more of a golden tone, to my great satisfaction. The patina is developing really beautifully. And I’m not the type who forces patina or appreciates too much of it.

The case is 40mm in diameter and has a slim profile with a curved sapphire glass. It fits perfectly on my 17.5cm wrist. It has a versatile 20mm lug width, and I’ve tried it with both a chevron strap and a retro leather band, with both suiting it really well. The bracelet is also really comfortable but tapers a bit too much in my opinion, to 14mm, correct for it’s time period though.

The Superluminova old radium lume is not as bright as Seikos Lumibrite, but holds alright. It has 100m water resistance, and a really great signed screw-down crown.

It runs a swiss made Oris 733 movement, based on the well tested Sellita SW 200-1, with a decent 38 hours power reserve.

The Oris Divers Sixty Five Two Tone is a sporty dive watch, but with a classy vibe. A watch suitable for a gentleman explorer.

Great review! I own the Blue dial version, I just wish it was a bit Blue-er. It looks more like black. My green one is a ‘full on’ green as are the red ones. Otherwise a ‘Gentlemans dive watch’ is a superb way to describe it. The half bronze/gold version looks amazing!
