Owner Review: H. Moser & Cie Pioneer Center Seconds

H. Moser & Cie Pioneer Center Seconds

I’m not going into detail about the specs of this movement, you can find all that stuff online. Here’s what you need to know. Moser make EVERYTHING in their watches and they put it together in the best way possible. My H. Moser & Cie Pioneer Center Seconds has kept excellent time so I’ve never had a problem. It’s good for 120 meters water resistance and has a 72 hour power reserve.

The case…. It’s Beautiful; It’s Muscular; It’s Curvaceous, and it’s Defined. This is one sexy case! The brushing, the polish, the detailed engravings on the side of the case feel like they must be vents letting out steam because this thing is hot.

Ok, let’s move to the dial now. I never got the hype with all the blue dials. But this is different. No one does it like Moser. It can be blue and it can be almost black. And the polish on the applied indices are so sharp light bounces off them making Lume almost not needed. The watch has some lume but nothing to rave about. The hands are classy skeletonize hands with some Lume. They might be the daintiest thing about this watch, and that’s ok. And finally, I can’t forget about the doomed sapphire crystal. It’s absolutely beautiful.

Moser makes a rubber strap for the Pioneer. They also have a steel bracelet. I have both and enjoy the watch on both. The rubber is very comfortable and has a beautiful signed and detailed buckle. And the bracelet is excellent and has micro adjustment very cleverly built into the clasp and can be engaged while wearing the watch. I have to mention the Kudu strap Moser makes (which I don’t have, yet!) looks amazing and I’m sure when I get it will get the most use. This watch is kind of a strap monster. It works with so many straps and really makes this a very versatile watch.

Yes, the H. Moser & Cie Pioneer Center Seconds is categorized as a sports watch but it cleans up really nicely. This watch does need curved spring bars (they come with the supplied strap) and experiencing curved spring bars got me thinking that they should be used by more brands. They really help get a great fit of strap to case.

This is a big watch. 42.8 across the case and 51.3 lug to lug. But it works on my 17cm wrist, it really works. I’ve got to tell you it makes me feel special to own this watch. Like Moser says it’s #veryrare. You’re not going to see many people with a Moser on. Nor will anyone know what you have on, but that’s not what having this watch is all about. This is about having something special and unique. You want a steel sports watch, made to the highest specs? There aren’t many better than this. You want something that makes you feel special and a part of the Moser family that you can wear everyday, get the H. Moser & Cie Pioneer Center Seconds.
