Owner Review: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph Rose Gold

Royal Oak Chronograph Rose Gold

So I was asked by @thewatchregulator to submit a review of my Audemars Piguet Royal Oak chronograph rose gold in 41mm. This being my first official review of any watch, I first hesitated in how I would go about this. This is for sure, a very high-end luxurious timepiece in precious metal, by a well respected, and admired brand. For some, it is considered inaccessible due to its price point.

So where do I begin? The Royal Oak chronograph rose gold has been in my collection for 4 years now, and it is one hefty time piece! It feels like a tonne of bricks on your wrist due to it being 18k pink gold in its entirety, but it is also extremely comfortable with the bracelet contouring to the wrist in an almost liquid manner. The F Piguet Calibre 1185 movement is highly regarded as one of the greatest chronograph movements with its vertical clutch and column wheel. The buttons are silky buttery smooth when engaged, an absolute pleasure when utilising the chronograph movement. Everything about it feels like and looks high end luxury, which is to be expected. But is it worn much? Yes, I wear it all the time in any situation! But mostly for events. This means it is sometimes seen on me casually, and even when I’m swimming with my son. I do not baby my watches, I wear them! And although it is super high end, I really have no trouble wearing it everyday.

Do I have any issues with the watch? There is only one issue I have with this remarkable timepiece. That is that the second hand is non hackable, meaning adjusting the time accurately within the second is somewhat a mission. That is my one and only issue! Otherwise, it is a gorgeous watch to look at. The weight although being hefty is remarkably comfortable on the wrist due to the bracelet design. Some would say it is too flashy.. I disagree.. I think it is a watch to be shown! It is too beautiful not to be seen.
