Owner Review: Renato Beast Chronograph

‘And now for something completely different’ ~ Monty Python

This is the almighty Renato Beast Chronograph! It’s a 46mm Monster, and this is the mid size model – the full size is 52mm! I remember seeing a Body Builder wearing one of these and it looked small on his wrist! What I like is the carbon fiber dial, and it’s super smooth ETA Quartz movement that is used by some great brands like Longines for instance. Gaudy… yes! Who gives a shit though? Because I don’t!

My mate Alex calls me a Sick F**k, for some of my purchases, I think he’s right! This hefty sucker could be used as a knuckle duster, and sure isn’t everybody’s ‘cup of tea’ but there is something very cool about it! When I wear it, it feels very secure against my wrist, the dial reflects shockingly beautifully and the way it plays with the light is pretty sweet! It’s the kind of dial you could look at over and over!

However, if you’ve read any of my other reviews, you know I’m not going to pull any punches! It’s a relic from the massive watch phase. But then again, it has its place! There are some big lads and lasses out there that could rock a watch like this with ease! But not for your average watch lover.

What I don’t like: The butterfly clasp bracelet is cumbersome, the watch case itself looks like the head of one of those scary Robots called the Cybermen from the TV show Dr. Who, so a love/hate design, or what some YouTubers call ‘The Marmite effect’.

What I do like: Tough, good quality for the price (pre-owned), and it’s different! At this price point, everyone’s got a Seiko, Citizen or similar! But how often do you see something like this? They have low production runs, and are cheap as chips 2nd hand! Different is the word! Or weird is the word, if you don’t like the watch! I recommend buying this Renato Beast while they are quite low $$, because they may be a good investment, due to the unique designs Brah!
