Owner Review: Zodiac Topper Jewelers Sea Wolf

Zodiac Topper Jewelers Sea Wolf

Of all the watches in my collection, the Zodiac Topper Jewelers Sea Wolf is by far the most unique. The obvious lure of the watch is where we’ll start, the bezel. I’ve found that there really isn’t much of an in between with this bezel as you either love it or hate it. Aside from the vintage Seiko rally’s I’ve never seen the rally design on a watch and to me, this one is just perfect. The bezel is made of a mineral glass, with the rally design seated underneath. This glass makes the bezel extremely smooth to the touch and quite comfortable when rotating the bezel. The blue sunburst dial is as beautiful as the bezel, when hit it’s the right light it’s incredible. In regards to quality, the Zodiac is built to hang with the best of them. I was extremely surprised with the feel of the jubilee bracelet, sturdy and very comfortable. A nice little surprise was the flex expansion built into the clasp, although it does naturally compress on its own.

With all of this in mind there are of course areas in which I felt the watch let me down. The first is an unusual one, the crown. In an attempt to broaden the watch’s wrist presence while keeping the slim feel and proportions, Zodiac made the bezel slightly larger than the case. The bezel sticks out ever so slightly, which in most cases wouldn’t matter. The problem is accessing and using the crown to set and wind the watch. Maybe I’m just being picky as this review requires cons, but I’ve always found the crown to be slightly difficult to maneuver. The next “con” is the lug length in comparison to the bracelet fit. This might be just a personal choice, but the lugs are so long compared to the bracelet length and at times it just seems awkward.

Overall the Zodiac Topper Jewelers Sea Wolf wears great, looks fantastic and always seems to be a conversation starter. If not pressed for cons I doubt I’d have any.
