The Tudor Submariner 7016/0 is a birth year model for me. Along with razors and pens, the birth year watch was a must have for me for some reason. My wife found this model at HQ Milton in San Francisco and was impressed with the attention to care and detail they offered. I knew what I was getting plus it was pressure tested during service and sold running at COSC specs. Ok so I’m not going diving with it but I have cheaper Seikos that I can afford to get wet. It’s nice to know it can get wet and yes I have washed it under a tap on a regular basis with no issues.
The watch looks great on most straps and is very easy to change thanks to the pre-drilled lug holes. I wanted an original Oyster bracelet at first but I am happy with wearing straps and bands. The no date is a big plus for me, the dial is dark and creamy and the hands match as well. The movement is a trusty ETA 2483 and easy to service or so I’m told.
The 40mm case has been polished previously but is in great condition as is the case back and crown. Overall I got a great example of the model and it gets a lot of wrist time. Submariners have always been a watch I’ve wanted to own and I’m happy to have this model.
The prices on the Tudor Submariner 7016/0 have risen sharply since I got this as have other questionable examples (like any other vintage watch) So exercise buyer beware and do as much research as you can. Information on Tudors is not as easy to find as with other brands but it is out there.
