I have lusted after a Tudor Black Bay GMT 79830RB since 2018 when it was released alongside the Rolex GMT Pepsi.
For some reason, I just found the Tudor more appealing and of course, it being half the price of the Rolex it seemed like the Tudor GMT was a much better value proposition.
I didn’t get around to pulling the trigger until 6 months ago in early 2022. The Tudor Black Bay GMT 79830RB is a fantastic watch and it holds its own when compared to the Rolex.
I love every aspect of the Tudor with its various nods to the past like the snowflake hands, gilt dial, riveted bracelet, and beveled lugs. All of these aspects add to the overall aesthetics of the watch and give it a lot of character.
Since picking up the Tudor Black Bay GMT around six months ago, I have worn it the most out of anything else I own. I find it to be the perfect summer watch and it looks great with shorts and a T-shirt or any outfit that I wear it with. Its versatility makes it a go to piece particularly with its practical GMT complication. I really like the reassurance of the 200m water resistance and I have no doubt it would make a wonderful one-watch collection.
The Tudor GMT ticks all the boxes for what I look for in a watch. The colour of the Pepsi bezel pops on sunny days and makes it perfect for wrist shots. It has heft and is substantial on the wrist mainly because of its infamous 15mm thick case. It is certainly not a petit watch. Its is noticeable in terms of both size and weight, which is something I enjoy.
The Black Bay is somewhat of a modern icon even though it was born only ten years ago in 2012. Today it is without a doubt one of the most popular sports watches on the market and for good reason. Tudor offers a lot of options in the Black Bay lineup. There are a great choice of colours, metals, case sizes and complications making the Black Bay line truly appealing.
For me, the Tudor Black Bay GMT 79830RB is my go-to watch for any occasion and I have truly enjoyed it since I put it on for the first time.
