This 7th timepiece in the 2020 Swatch X 007 Collection allegedly released in a limited run of 7007 units. The Swatch 007 “Q” is one limited edition that won’t cost you your first born, or both kidneys.
The Q sports a quartz movement that is wrapped with a 42mm matte finished stainless steel case at about 6.70mm thick as this is based on the Swatch SKIN IRONY line of watches.
The movement can be seen in the center of the partially skeletonized dial giving only hours and minutes with the bright red lumed almost baton-like hands standing out from the background of gears and electronics. The quartz mill is framed by brushed aluminum interrupted by blue hour indices with the exception of the Swatch logo at 12 and the “Q” at the 6 markers. The entire facade is circumscribed by the same bright red used in the hands.
Outside, the Q has a brushed aluminum case with an official water resistance of 30m/three bars. The caseback has the usual suspects: the classic Swatch battery access with several engravings including the battery details and water resistance. A simple brushed crown can be seen at 3 position. Setting the time can get a bit fidgety as the crown is so small. And its toothless aesthetic does not help at pulling the crown out. Setting the time is silky smooth especially for those used to mechanical watches.
The black leather strap has an embossed checkered pattern with red accents on the sides, matching the dial. The brown inner lining has the words “Designed by Q” stamped. Securing the strap is an engraved stainless steel buckle.
On the wrist, the Swatch 007 “Q” feels almost nonexistent. Its thin profile together with the leather strap is a dream on the wrist that almost brings back the nostalgia of your first Swatch. The Q feels solid with the stainless steel case and adequate water resistance for daily wear. Who said this can only be your second watch?
