Owner Review: Steinhart Military 47 – Unique Flieger

Steinhart Military 47

Long before I found this Steinhart Military 47 I have always had a special liking for German made products. I even took on a language course during school days. The thing that I admire the most about German made products is the craftsmanship. Nothing beats the submarine steel of Sinn & Damasko, and Lange is just a pure beauty inside.

Despite the fact that I always promise my wife its going to be the last piece, I continued to own quite a few watches over the years.

I came to know Steinhart when I was working in the watch industry back then. However, I never had the thought of buying a steinhart watch as most of the watched that I own are mainstream brands like Oris, Citizen, Hamilton and Zenith. Switching from mainstream brands to uncommon brand is not easy. Most uncommon brand started by using a homage design to pay tribute to certain brands like Rolex, Panerai and AP. In order to find a unique watch that is far from homage design, it takes time and lots of consideration.

The watch that I am reviewing today is Steinhart Military 47 Pink Gold, Limited Edition. Back then, if you are looking for a watch with salmon dial there was not much options. The options that were available Nomos and MontBlanc. However, their prices are all on the high side and the movements were mostly automatic.

The Steinhart Military 47 Pink Gold LE is equipped with an ETA manual winding movement (non-hacking) and the movement is nicely decorated. There are blue screws, decentralised geneva stripes, iconic German style three quarter bridge and angle swan neck regulator. All these can be seen through the transparent caseback of the watch.

The case size is an ideal size of 47mm for pilot watches. This size can be worn easily everyday as comparing to the original size of 55mm. The case was treated with diamond-liked coating which added a tactical vibe to it. The beautiful soft orange sunburst dial can be observed under normal lighting and appeared to be light pink under dimmed lighting.

Overall, if you are looking for a watch that is unique, beautiful and no resemblance of any homage watches, this LE Steinhart Military 47 is must-add to your collection.
