The Seiko Presage SPRE11J1, is a limited edition of 1300 pieces worldwide and is only available in certain countries in Asia. I have never really considered Seiko watches in the past, however this particular one caught my attention. It is partly to do with my Reverso Tribute Moon, which was purchased 5 months prior to the Seiko. I was captivated by the grain textured dial of the Reverso. The Presage Irish Coffee offers a textured dial and a rich two tone coffee dial (darker towards the case) making it irresistible. The unique colour of the dial is rarely seen in the watch world too. I am a huge coffee lover and I was fortunate enough to land myself the numbered 1068; an auspicious number for chinese. This made buying the watch even easier.
This remains my first and only Seiko timepiece. There is never a dull moment looking at this gorgeous dial whenever it is on my wrist, often having a second glance just staring at the amazing dial. The dial colour also changes like a chameleon with different angles of lighting. After 8 months of ownership, it is fast becoming my second favourite watch and one of my most worn timepieces. Rotating between the Reverso and the Presage. The Presage is ahead of my Rolexes and Omega in the pecking order among my collection.
I get compliments on the watch from non watch geeks too. Being the most affordable automatic in the collection, I must say that you can’t find any similar dial at this price point. The closest that I can think of, the Glashutte Original Sixties will cost around 15 times more than the Presage series. The dial on the Seiko Presage SPRE11J1 alone is worth paying for the watch. If you are looking at affordable vintage inspired dress watches with modern specs, look no further.
