Owner Review: Rolex GMT Master 16750 Pepsi

Rolex GMT Master 16750

The Rolex Pepsi GMT Master 16750 is a great looking watch but in my opinion only on a bracelet. It is both undeniably iconic and a strong contender for a one-watch collection. This particular reference is considered a transitional model and was produced in the eighties.

The Rolex 3075 movement is rock solid and even though it was produced in the eighties, you can bang it around without any concerns. The Pepsi GMT is without a doubt the best and most intuitive to use travel watch of all time. This watch oozes non-bling style and complements the worn in leather jacket look super well.

However, it is not as versatile as the Rolex Submariner 16800. Leather straps don’t look as good on it when compared to similar aged vintage submariners. Some people love to put brown leather on it but in my opinion, that’s just too many colours going on when you take into account the dial and bezel colours. A Pepsi isn’t as discreet when you want to pair it with a navy/charcoal suit for work. Even though this watch looks at its best on a bracelet, the bracelets from this era are flimsy. Also the flatness of the case is not fully appreciated in pictures. Overall the watch feels like less of a toolwatch when compared to the Submariner.

I really do love the Rolex Pepsi GMT Master 16750 and would buy it again and again. Although it is not good value given current market prices (a vaild point whatever year you are reading this).
