Once a rather plump luxury watch sales person told me that if I worked really hard I could maybe one day own a Rolex Batman GMT Master II. I had commented on how beautiful his watch was and ever since that comment I wanted the Batman. I put in a lot of work to build a profile with my AD to ensure I was given the opportunity to purchase one when my time finally came.
I was quietly hoping that it would arrive just in time to coincide with my wedding, the stars aligned and I was given the opportunity to purchase one in February 2019. The watch was a gift from my beautiful wife on our wedding day and six months on I can comfortably say that it is one of my favourite watches.
It is an extremely versatile watch, allowing me to go from the boardroom to the construction site and then to the pool. With the in-house 3186 movement giving me a 50 hour power reserve, I can even take it off on a Friday evening and wear it to the office on Monday. Knowing that I do not have to set the time and date. If I am travelling, it is also the perfect companion as it allows me to keep track of my home time with the GMT feature.
All positive so far however it is worth noting that the Batman with its high polished centre links are prone to scratching easily. This may prove to be problematic for some watch enthusiasts. Luckily for me, I believe in wearing all my watches, therefore, this has never been an issue for me. If you are looking for that one watch that can do it all and more, then I would strongly suggest the Rolex Batman 116710 BLNR at retail.
