The Roebuck Diviso is a quality offering from a micro brand with a difference. Whether it’s the history or design, Roebuck isn’t your average micro brand. Guy Roebuck, the man behind the watches is a transplanted Kiwi, living in Round Rock, Texas by way of the UK. Just like Guy, the Diviso is outside the norm too. Unlike most micro brands, he’s developed a unique watch rather than simply reproducing a simple homage.
The Diviso has a lot going for it too. The design is simply phenomenal. The dial is a handsome mix of applied indices, a racing stripe down the middle with subtle and eye catching markings. The orange/blue dial is a nice throwback to the Gulf Racing team of the past. The carbon fibre inspired bezel insert continues with the racing theme, a nice touch all gearheads will surely appreciate. The case is a mix of brushed and polished stainless steel surfaces, with an inset brushed section on the sides catching the eye.
The movement is the Miyota 9039, part of Miyotas premium automatic line. With stated accuracy of -10 to +30 seconds a day it’s a reliable, and economical japanese made automatic movement. Over the course of a week mine was running at +4 seconds a day, well within specifications.
The finishing is extremely well executed. The brushing transition to high polished surfaces, the etched crowns and the Round Rock caseback are all well executed. The attention to detail and QC are reminiscent of an established luxury brand.
Now moving onto the grumbles of the Roebuck Diviso.
The crowns, while handsome and grippy are not screw down. This is especially annoying on the internal rotating bezel, which causes it to slip and move.
The size could be problematic for those with smaller wrists due to the lug to lug size.
The price, $600USD is a lot of money for a new micro brand. Although it is comparable to other miyota powered micro brands.
