Owner Review: Sirna by Andreas Strehler by @watchesandwords

Sirna by Strehler – I have never owned a better watch for everyday wear
Beautiful blue on a strong 3D pattern

When I saw the stainless steel Sirna for the first time, the very blue, three-dimensional, clear dial immediately caught my eye. The Sirna is a separate watch brand from Andreas Strehler and is built in the UhrTeil AG workshop in Sirnach, Switzerland. We know Andreas Strehler as a maker and the owner of the company that is responsible for watches, constructions, movements, components and so many inventions for the entire watch industry. Andreas Strehler is also known for outstanding watches from his own brand under the name ‘Andreas Strehler’. The Sirna is a new independent watch in a round case design, a watch with a very thin movement in a very flat case. The case is fully polished. The stainless steel used has not been scratched in the slightest during my daily use. Personally, I find this feature quite outstanding. I have owned stainless steel wristwatches from other manufacturers whose polished cases scratched just as quickly as gold cases.

Technical perfection and excellent decoration

The Sirna is a sportive watch made of stainless steel. It has an automatic movement cal. SA-30. This movement design can also be found in Vianney Halter and Grönefeld watches. The movement runs at 21,600 vph and has a 60-hour power reserve. In my daily use, the watch has never stopped since months. It is so accurately regulated that I haven’t had to reset the time for weeks. The most fascinating feature of the Sirna for me is its titanium blue anodised dial. Its 3D pattern structure is laser engraved and polished. The Sirna has beautiful old-fashioned leaf-shaped polished hands. Eric Giroud is responsible for the beauty of the design. The clear design of the dial is not disturbed by unnecessary text: there is nothing on the dial but the name ‘Strehler’. On the back of the watch is a transparent case back, it is secured with four screws. Through this case back, the outstandingly beautiful movement with excellent finishing can be viewed at any time. Visually, for me it is reminiscent of the movements of Jules Jürgensen. The decoration of the movement is excellent: you can see a lovely gold automatic winding rotor, highly polished bevels, internal angles, and much more.

Wonderful every day watch

I have never owned a better, more robust, more perfect watch for everyday wear than the Strehler Sirna. Its readability is outstanding. But most important and not to forget: it is an Andreas Strehler watch with the design from Eric Giroud – for a watch you can wear daily – how cool is this! It is the definition of cool – when you simply do not care whether you are cool or not.

Yes or No?

If you flip through the following criteria, you might find the answer to the “Is-the-Sirna-watch-the-right-watch-for-me-Question”:

1 you like independent watchmakers

2 you like textured or structured 3D dial designs

3 you like a time only watch

4 you like to wear a modern watch on a leather strap

5 you do not need a date indication

6 you love the old fashioned indication with a small seconds dial

7 you want excellent finishing and perfection

8 you have no problems with longer waiting times

9 you enjoy automatic movements

10 you enjoy a very blue dial

Pros
– Special 3D dial design
– Wonderful movement
– Full of perfect details (case shape, buckle design, dial pattern, movement construction)

Cons
– Strap is very wide and buckle very large
– Limited production of only a few watches per year (which is also a pro)
– Long waiting time (for those who prefer to get a watch as soon as they have seen it for the first time)
