Dennison Watch Case Company is founded in Birmingham and will manufacture cases for the who’s who of the watch industry for some 100 years.

1937:
Jean-Claude Gueit was born in Geneva and designed watches in the 1970s and 1980s, including icons such as the Baume & Mercier Riviera and the Polo by Piaget, for which he worked extensively.

1976:
Emmanuel Gueit was born as the son of Jean-Claude and later designed watches such as the AP Royal Oak Offshore. He also worked with and for Piaget, as well as for Rolex, among others.

April 2025:
At Time to Watches – held at the same time as Watches and Wonders – I discover a watch that looks elegant and elaborate, yet is quite affordable; you immediately recognise the sophistication inherent in this – ugh, quartz – watch: no/concealed lugs, no annoying (because it jumps) second hand, fine dials, even a diamond-set bezel can be seen on one model …

The Dennison watch lives rent-free in the back of my mind and won’t give me any peace.

Early November 2025:
A good watch friend of mine, who has a truly exquisite collection and just as much knowledge as he has style, shows me his new Dennison during a Zoom call!
That sealed the deal: resistance is futile.
The (entry-level) model with the beautiful ‘sunray’ dial was ordered, with one strap for my wife and one for me.

13 November 2025:
According to DHL, my Dennison has just left Geneva and is on its way to me.
In the evening, my watch’s sister (the one with the gold-coloured PVD case and tiger’s eye dial) will receive the GPHG award in the ‘Challenge’ category.
