In 2020, I had purchased a Reservoir Bronze Tiefenmesser and it was a love at first sight experience for me. In the same year, I found my all time favourite timepiece, the Oris Calobra Chronograph Limited Edition II.
One day I was casually browsing for green watches on Carousel (a 2nd hand market app), I saw an Oris Calobra Chronograph Limited Edition II. I wanted it desperately the moment I saw it. Without doing any research about it, I knew I had to have it. The shinny green ceramic bezel, the 3-6-9 chronograph layout and the attention to details constantly reminding me what money is for. I love every aspect of this watch and hence, I bought it. I had to.
I had not seen or did any research on this beautiful timepiece before, I started to dig deeper.
The Oris Calobra Chronograph Limited Edition II was launched in 2015, together with a day-date version of it. However, there was only a handful of information available online. All I know was that it was a limited edition piece and not many people knew about it. To be honest, I was hooked. I contacted the seller and arrange for a meetup.
As soon as the seller put the watch in front of me and asked me to try it on, I knew it would be impossible for me to go back home empty handed. I had completely forgotten about the “last piece” promise I made to my wife earlier.
The vibrant colour, racing vibe design and its rally strap with the green ceramic bezel….. oh my ….
No words can describe the level of surprise I got when I flipped the watch around and saw the beautiful racing route caseback. Moreover, it was labelled with an auspicious number that will make every asian collector fall in love with it again and again.
The Oris Calobra Chronograph Limited Edition II is my first Oris and my all time favourite by far. However, it is definitely not my last piece and I sincerely hope that my wife won’t see this. For the benefit of all watch lovers like me, I will take the risk to write this review.
