Owner Review: Nomos Tetra Neomatik 39

Nomos Tetra on the wrist

Say hello to the Nomos Tetra Neomatik 39 – since my university days, I’ve always wanted to get a Nomos Tetra, but I never quite got down to it. Alas, I’ve finally added it to my collection! There’s just something about a squared case watch that appealed to me, and NOMOS most definitely provides great offerings at relatively affordable prices. This specific piece is an automatic model with a power reserve of 43 hours, coming in at a relatively slim 3.2mm in movement height and fits very well as a dress watch. The sapphire crystal glass back proudly displays the DUW 3001 movement which is such a beauty. This is an in-house movement which is incredibly thin and yet highly precise – an example of German engineering (specifically, Glashutte engineering) at its finest!

To me the squared case is extremely striking and proportional. The rhodium plated dial with brushed finish accentuates the squared case where there is a seconds sub-dial with a different finishing to delineate the seconds sub-dial. Other subtle finishes include blue minute and hour hands, and red second hands. Sometimes, too much colour may be a little confusing but on this piece, the various colours provide a complementing contrast giving it a very classy look – perfect for a dress watch! All in, the Nomos Tetra is a lovely piece at an affordable price point – it doesn’t get any better than this!
