Want a Military issued watch? Can’t afford any of the ‘Dirty Dozen’, those watches issued to the British Military with the broad arrow, like Longines, Record and Omega to name a few. OK how about a Vietnam issue Benrus or WW2 Bulova? Expensive and many have been re-done. The same goes for IDF Eterna watches $3K-5K. How about a current issue USAF Marathon Navigator? They get issued, but them flyboys are watch fans & have fancy watches. But some still get issued like these Benrus based designed, Navigators. Some have seen war, and some have not. But these watches are still the real deal! But best of all, they’re affordable. A bit like the Brit issued CWC watches in value & availability.
The watch looks great on most wrists at 41mm, the lume has a subtle brightness, but stays lit all night long. And in Mil-spec fashion, it has fixed lugs, so NATOS it is. The black case and bezel always look tough and tactical, and the sterile dial makes it look mysterious! No brand name, just the H3 logo and the Nuclear symbol. These cost $300 new from Marathon’s website. And If you read this from their website:
MIL-SPEC: Manufactured in accordance with MIL-PRF-46374G Type III, Class 1 US Government Specification.
You may touch yourself inappropriately at the thought!
However, past models I’ve owned, just fell apart, they were shite! I was flying to the UK once, proudly wearing my previous Marathon Navigator, and the bezel fell off, lost forever! Then the hands fell off. Maybe I just got a bad one? Made me hesitate buying this one, but it is built better and it is holding up well! So be careful buying some of the older ones, the build quality wasn’t there. It’s worth buying one direct from Marathon as a Civvy, for the warranty at least and the new one has Sapphire glass. There is even a US Government dial version for Law enforcement issue. Top Gun dude! Top Gun!
