Owner Review: Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Moon – Stars Like a Piece of Art

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso remains one of the iconic design that stays true to its origins. In late 2018, I was looking for a dress watch with moonphase to commemorate my wedding. I have always been fascinated by the moonphase complication which adds a touch of romance and elegance to the timepiece. What more fitting occasion to mark this milestone by getting one in my collection. After looking around for the “perfect” choice, I was introduced to the Reverso when I was looking at JLC watches. While I like tank watches, some of the classic Reversos don’t speak to me as much.

That is until I saw the Tribute Moon! The frosted silver dial really pops when looking at it up close. It just felt like looking at a piece of art. Contrasting with the silver textured grained dial, its hands, and applied hour markers are all blue, making it highly legible. At 6, you have the date disc with a red crescent moon tipped hand, the moonphase and starry stars (different sizes) with gold accents, the subdial is also recessed. There is alot of attention to detail. On the reverse blue dial – there is a nice contrast between the opaline interior and the clous de Paris texture on the exterior, with day/night indicator at six o’clock and the applied indexes and polished hands. It can also be used as a second time zone or home time when travelling. Activating the lever on the top of the case, will advance the hour hand by 1 hour each time the lever is pulled.

Powered by a manually-wound JLC movement, caliber 853A with a power reserve of 42 hour. The Reverso Tribute Moon is truly an art deco inspired piece with a modern touch and exquisite finishes. With a dual timezone plus a date and moonphase indicator, then a day/night indicator on the reverse dial. It packs so many complications, horological value and an iconic piece all into one watch!
