Owner Review: Isotope Goutte d’Eau Nordblad

Isotope Goutte d'Eau Nordblad

The Isotope Goutte d’Eau Nordblad “Special Edition” really is a unique take on a divers watch. I love to see watch companies that take chances as Isotope did with this watch.

Isotope is a micro brand based in the UK who have put together 2 versions of the Goutte d’Eau. This one with blue touches and named for ice and freediver, Johanna Nordblad and an almost identical version with orange cues.

The Isotope Goutte d’Eau Nordblad is made of stainless steel with a sandwich dial, sapphire crystal, twin crowns (a non-screw down for the internal bezel and a screw down for winding and time setting) and a fantastic bracelet with a ratcheting divers clasp. From the standpoint of a tool diver, this watch is ready to strap on and dive, snorkel or swim to your heart’s content. It is very legible and is comfortable to wear at 40mm in diameter with a distance of 44mm lug to lug, a 22mm lug width and a height of around 13mm. This size puts it right in the sweet spot for many wrists while also providing a nice wrist presence. Personally I like to feel a watch on my wrist but I don’t want the watch to wear me and the Goutte d’Eau strikes a nice balance in my opinion.

Options in life are always nice and Isotope offers them up for each Goutte d’Eau buyer. You can choose to have a date or no date version as well as a choice between the Swiss made Selitta SW200-1 or to keep the price down, a Japanese Seiko NH35a. Both are durable automatic movements that should provide years of trouble free service.

I could go on and on but if you are looking for a unique diver that stands out in a crowd, initiates conversations and has a high quality to price ratio, the Isotope Goutte d’Eau Nordblad should be on your short list.
