Halios is a microbrand that has been doing things right for awhile now. I have had 5 or 6 different varieties over the lifetime of the Halios Seaforth and thankfully it is still a relatively cheap watch that I dearly love. The first series of the Seaforths housed a 90s5 Miyota movement and that particular model is still the one I hold dear.
The words that have most often resonated with me when considering this watch is that it is a well-priced watch (at its original retail price) that is simply greater than the sum of its parts. I think that is sadly reflected in some of the grossly over-inflated second hand prices that we see today for Halios models, as well as the fact that most of their watches sell out within minutes, and it’s testament to the great work that it’s founder Jason Lim has been doing.
There have been a number of wonderful dial and bezel combinations over the years (along with the more recent bronze case variety). The one I held onto was a sunburst blue and the one I regret selling – the Bahama Yellow. The Halios Seaforth is just a no-nonsense, reliable, quality tool watch and I would recommend it as a day to day throw-it-on-the-wrist type of watch.
