I have a simple rating system for watches – when I strap it on, do I smile? Well, let me introduce you to one that makes me grin like an idiot – the H. Moser & Cie Centre Seconds Blue Lagoon.
We are watch freaks, and for me watches are art. For functionality, my iPhone can beat any watch with any function. Yet, I wear a watch, sometimes 2-4 per day. I love moon-phases, fine finishing on dials, movements, properly set chatons, anglage, and beveling.
The H. Moser & Cie Centre Seconds Blue Lagoon is unique and is one of my favorites. With its shiny fume dial, light bows, reflecting the sky or other items that will attract attention. The stock hand-stiched grey-black gator patina strap allows you to dress it up, the Kudu strap with a bright fluorescent green under color is my favorite. The hands are polished top, sides, and bottom. Moser’s concept lines are just dial and hands, no swiss-made, names, or other text on dials, usually a fume dial, that is now synonymous with Moser watches.
Moser currently manufactures around 1,500 pieces per year total. This H. Moser & Cie Centre Seconds Blue Lagoon is a 50-piece LE in a white gold case. They also did a rose gold LE Lagoon in 20 pieces too, and a year or so later released a production run of steel models with the Lagoon dial. My partner loved it so much, I gifted her one with diamonds in steel. H. Moser makes all their movement pieces in-house (sister company Precision). Precision provides upwards of 100K hairsprings to other manufacturers each year. The movement is beautiful, Moser striping, a gold rotor, and though machine finished, the Diamond tip polishing produces a great look. The anglage/beveling is very good for a machine finished movement.
The H. Moser & Cie Centre Seconds Concept Blue Lagoon is a distinctive watch, and is one that has a special place in my collection.
