Owner Review: Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro 600 MK3

Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro 600 MK3

Christopher Ward are a brand who are moving from microbrand territory to playing with the bigger fish, their recent TV ads have shown that they are looking towards bigger things, but their price ranges are still lower than others. The Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro 600 MK3, in its third iteration, is their flagship watch – a sophisticated timepiece that oozes quality that belies it’s price point. Retailing at £845, with regular sales and discount codes, it is the best value diver I have found.

The C60 I am reviewing is a blue 40mm variation – also available in 38 and 42mm. A lug width of 20mm and lug to lug 47.46mm means that it is impressive whilst being comfortable on wrist. The case is the star here, with the alternate brushed and polished sections creating a sleek and unique shape – it is known as the ‘light catcher’ and for good reason. The case, combined with the sapphire glass, the glossy dial and polished applied indices mean that this watch sparkles in the sunshine. The dial has a love it or hate it aspect, as the logo is located at the 9 o’clock position – some love this while others feel it ruins the watch. A twin flag logo at 12 and a date window at 3 help to balance this out.

The Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro 600 MK3 is powered by a Sellita SW200-1, a workhorse movement that beats at 28,800 bph. There have been recent complaints of watches having to be sent back due to the rotor turning when the watch is hand wound – this is possibly a Sellita issue but CW may still be shipping watches with known faults. a 60/60 guarantee means this can be rectified but no one wants to be without their watch while it is repaired. The bracelet is stunning, with quick release pins and an innovative micro adjuster, but without half links can be difficult to size perfectly. Overall, this is a lot of watch for your money and well worth purchasing.
