The Breguet Type XX Transatlantique manages to be classy, charming, and sporty all at the same time. First and foremost, we’re talking Breguet here! I mean, look at the font on that date wheel. That’s nice! If you want a Breguet in your collection and you’re not ready to go all out dress watch and you don’t love their divers (which I don’t) then this might be the watch for you.

The Breguet Type XX Transatlantique is versatile. I love the proportions on my wrists. “But it says here it’s 14.5mm thick” yes it’s not a slim watch but that’s ok because it hides it well. We’ve all experienced a time in our lives that maybe we gained some weight and revert to that sweatshirt or those pair of pants that hide the size increase. Well this watch does that, no need for us to shame it.

The case is so charming with the coin edge sides. The bezel is sloped and brushed, as to no attract attention, and the sapphire is beautifully domed. I’ve never seen 14.5mm look so slim. The lugs are short and taper down so it sits low on the wrist. I’ve talked up the wearability, and if you read this far, I assume you already like the look of the Breguet Type XX Transatlantique. Let me address all the potential negatives.

I have three problems with the Breguet Type XX Transatlantique: the 30min chronograph sub dial, the lug width, and non hacking movement. That last one explains itself. The chronograph minute hand sweeps around and doesn’t tick at every minute. I don’t love that. And it’s 15 marking on a 30 min dial. So that can be confusing. The only other potential negative is the lug width being 21mm. This was not as bad for me because I jammed in a 22mm strap and it’s been living there ever since.

If you can get past the quirks of the Breguet Type XX Transatlantique, then you will be rewarded with a great watch. The Transatlantique can be worn on any occasion; shorts and a T-Shirt at the beach or a 3 piece suit at a wedding, just loosen the shirt cuff a little, don’t embarrass the little guy.
