Owner Review: Wyler Dynawind by @notawatchsnob1

A Unique Piece of American History

I’m excited to share a truly special timepiece with a powerful story. This vintage Wyler watch belonged to the legendary Harry Belafonte—a birthday gift from the owner of Wyler Watches.
It wasn’t just worn, it witnessed history.

Belafonte, known for hits like Day-O and Jump in the Line, was the first artist to sell a million albums.
But he was more than a music icon—he was a civil rights leader, first black Emmy winner, Hollywood trailblazer, humanitarian, and a close friend of Dr. King.

And this watch was with him through it all—from the March on Washington to the funeral of JFK and MLK, to decades of global activism.
It’s not just a timepiece—it created history.

I’m very fortunate to have found it. What I think is cool is all the historic events Harry was apart of while wearing this watch.

JFK’s oval office
March on Washington
Meeting countless celebrities
Countless performances
And sadly that picture below is it at MLKs funeral.

You can see the sadness and disgust and anger in his eyes.

Its a powerful statement and powerful watch.

I reached out to Wyler Vetta (formally Wyler) they said the date wheel and caseback are custom made.
Yet because they didn’t know the Wyler family personally they couldn’t understand the connection between Wyler and Harry.

Editors note: this (hi)story gives me goosebumps; particularly relevant at present times

I then found out through research that Harry and Vic were friends. They met at an event where Wyler was performing one of their marketing stunts in NY and they built up a friendship. Whats cool is he was given this particular watch as a symbol of Harry’s resilience much like the watches.

I’m excited to have it in my collection and some say like a fool I’ve turned down crazy offers for it.

Pros:

– Its history

– Its dial

– Its date window
