Owner Review: Heuer Yacht Timer ref.503.512

Heuer Yacht Timer ref:503.512

Okay, so the watch doesn’t keep time all too well, but that’s no biggie. With this Heuer Yacht Timer ref.503.512 it’s all about the aesthetic.

In terms of a colorful watch, does it get any better than 1970’s Heuer? While I don’t have a yacht to time, I could probably race some rubber duckies in the bath tub!

The watch itself is gargantuan. Pretty sure the Heuer Yacht Timer ref.503.512 is coming in at +50mm. I can’t tell you what my wrist size is, but I can share that I tend to wear anywhere from a 32mm-36mm timepiece on the average day of the week. +50mm!?!?! I mean this is crazy…..Crazy cool that is.

Alright, am I gonna wear it everywhere? No. But it is sure as hell will be on my wrist when I am at a watch meet up. Or on my desk when I am bored at work. As far as the action of this one, I must say the pusher is so fun. It requires a bit of force to push that sucker in. A real tactile experience that you won’t get on those 1887 Tag Heuer mushroom pushers that are buttery smooth. This one is all or nothing.

This Heuer Yacht Timer ref.503.512 is very loud too. You can hear it ticking from a mile away (and I digg it). Paired with the Hodinkee Shop nato, you know I’m bout that action. It’s truly a spectacular timepiece that I will be enjoying. Might have to go down the rabbit hole on vintage Heuer stop watches.

Thanks Pip! You gotta check it out. Should I review another stop watch for FW?
