Owner Review: Nite Watches MX10 – A Modern Field Watch

Nite Watches MX10

The Nite Watches MX10 is a truly unique one, featuring two things that I’ve never had in my collection, along with two of my favorite things. I’ve never owned a watch with an integrated bracelet, nor one with tritium tube hand/dial markers. And I love olive drab green and 24-hour dials.

So here we have this cool modern ‘field watch’ from British brand Nite. Like Ball and Luminox, their brand is all about Tritium tubes, and the Nite Watches MX10 features what are known as T25 illumination tubes, in green (with orange at 12). Nite also offers some models with a brighter lume called T100.

If you’re used to Seiko or Superluminova, the brightness won’t dazzle you, but the lume of the MX10 outlasts anything out there. I keep the watch on my nightstand, and I can clearly see the time if I happen to wake during the night, even though the glow is unobtrusive. The glass Tritium-filled tubes claim a life of around 20 years, FYI.

Now onto the features of the Nite Watches MX10: Even thought the case is only 39mm, it’s an absolute unit. 100m water resistant with screw-down caseback, as well as a sapphire crystal and no-fuss Swiss Ronda 715 quartz movement. Size wise, it’s a wearable 39mm case, with a height of 11.6mm, and a lug size of 18mm.

About that lug size of the Nite Watches MX10: due to the integrated bracelet and proprietary end links, you’re limited to the bracelet or a polymer strap from Nite ($35), although I imagine you could wear it on a NATO if you don’t mind a somewhat derpy look, because the lug edges are noticeably wider than the strap. Also, the non-articulating bracelet links can lend a sort of bangle-like fit on smaller wrists, so consider that.

All that aside, I really enjoy the MX10, a truly unique piece in my collection. $520 direct, though frequently on sale.
