Owner Review: Bulgari Aluminum Diagono – Italian chic!

Bulgari is a brand that is synonymous with luxury. Originally a high jewelry brand, Bulgari has made its way into the watch world with a bang! – with exceptionally finished and innovative in-house movements and innovation in materials. Before Bulgari made a debut into the high horology world, their watches were marketed as luxury “fashion watches” and the Diagono was a massive success in the early 2000s using exotic materials like titanium, aluminum, and incorporating a rubber strap. The watches were expensive initially but today the Diagonos can be found under a thousand dollars. I’m a collector who looks for value not necessarily for investment potential, just to get more than I paid for. The Bulgari Aluminum is a great example of that.

Getting into the watch itself, the design is very striking and contemporary. The Diagono is an offspring of the Bulgari Bulgari, which was designed by Gerald Genta. The case measures 38mm and is aluminum making it extremely lightweight. Everything about this watch screams contemporary. The movement is the tried and tested ETA 2892 which is finished very well. Overall the watch is a great casual watch that looks good and has a great presence on the wrist. It is probably one of the most comfortable watches that I have ever worn, from one of the most well-known luxury brands and you are getting a unique design that Gerald Genta has played a role in. All of that for under a $1,000 makes this piece a very good starter watch or a watch for an established collector who wants something “fun” that won’t break the bank.
