Quartz watches are really not loved in the world of watch collecting. You don’t tend to see them in ‘popular’ watch Instagrams or websites. The Corniche heritage chronograph runs on a Seiko VK64 Hybrid movement. A quartz movement with sweeping second-hand for the chronograph. This is where one of my complaints for this watch stems from. Unlike a speedy where you can have the chronograph hand run perpetually, on the Heritage the chronograph hand stops after 30 minutes. Sadly, this means the watch looks like it’s not running for most of the day or you have to remember to start it up every 30 minutes.
It has to be said Corniche’s entire chronograph line looks like the Vacheron chronograph ref 4178. That said this beautiful 39mm stainless steel watch is versatile and comes in at price point nowhere close to Vacheron. The limited-edition ceramic dial with applied polished markers looks amazing under the sun and has made it the perfect summer watch. I guess they didn’t intend it to be a summer watch because the watch comes with a black leather strap. This strap was uncomfortably stiff, and I ended up changing the strap immediately. Overall, I have fallen in love with the watch and whatever small flaws it has they don’t really affect the enjoyment I get from wearing it.
