Have you been looking to be the custodian of a wonderful Sarpaneva creation? The S.U.F Helsinki Vetehinen line is an entry level line created by independent watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva.
When I was first lucky enough to stumble upon a photo of the S.U.F Vetehinen I immediately knew this was a watch that I just had to own. Upon delivery of the watch I was pleasantly surprised that it looked even better in person than I thought it would, especially the well executed dial. The Vetehinen fits nicely on the wrist for a watch coming in at 42mm in diameter and 13mm in thickness. Several variations have been produced in limited quantities, some more appealing to me than others. Each watch is delivered with two strap options.
While the S.U.F Vetehinen has mainly been my weekend watch since it was purchased, it quickly became my daily watch when the Covid-19 outbreak started to spread across the planet. Having it on my wrist every day has been a really nice experience, I appreciate it even more today than I did when I first got it. The large Superluminova hour markers make it very easy to read the time at a quick glance and the second hand at 9 o’clock is very well done indeed. The dial could be described as understated but it is actual fact really spectacular. Made by Comblémine SA cadrans soignés, a watch component manufacturing company owned by the world renowned independent watchmaker Kari Voutilainen. Just imagine a watch with the creative DNA of both Stepan Sarpaneva and Kari Voutilainen, a dream come true for any lover of independent watchmaking.
I really hope that Stepan Sarpaneva continues to make additional variations of the S.U.F Helsinki Vetehinen so others will be able to enjoy this very cool watch for years to come.
