Owner Review: Girard Perregaux Laureato Chronograph

Girard Perregaux Laureato Chronograph

I bought the Girard Perregaux Laureato Chronograph because I fell in love with the integrated bracelet; this looks just great. Combined with the size of 38mm and height of just around 11.3mm for my 17.5cm wrist it was really appealing. Then the brand Girard Perregaux, which is one of the oldest but not flashy haute horology manufacturers.

The Laureato dial was one that appealed to me too, the dial is made out of small pyramids (Clou de Paris) and they catch the light in every angle. Adding the blue hands and hour markers makes this a watch you want to look at every minute you wear it. As one great watch man once said, “these watches are made for looking at and enjoying the beauty and craftsmanship”. This is just so true with this watch.

The Laureato is very comfortable, the crown and pushers don’t dig into my hand and the bracelet tapers from 22mm to 16mm. The butterfly style clasp with pushers is very simple and standard for this price point. So it has no micro adjustments and the pushers sometimes annoy me.

Going to the movement, the Girard Perregaux Laureato Chronograph has a GP03300-0134 movement that runs like a charm. It is very accurate (+/-3 to 4 seconds per day) and the chronograph functionality is very smooth. The crown is screwed down as well as the pushers, making it 100m water resistant. Cool thing is that the pushers have a quick screw down mechanism, so you only have to perform 3/4 of a twist to lock or unlock them. The hour and minute hands as well as the hour markers are filled with greenish superluminova.

Overall this watch is just an amazing steel sports watch in the field of haute horology. It is pricey yes, and they could make a better clasp, but I really love wearing and looking at it.
