Owner Review: Halios Seaforth

Halios Seaforth watches get a lot of love from the watch community. And after I was lucky enough to snag a Series 1 Seaforth (sunburst blue dial, fixed bezel) I’ve got to say it’s well deserved. In fact, I loved that first Seaforth so much I went and got a second one when the Series 3 came out, this time an orange dial with a black sapphire bezel.

Why do I love it so much? Well to start with is the design. The dial is simple, clean and well proportioned, featuring applied markers and minimal text. The case is the perfect size, 40mm (41 with the bezel) x 47mm. The height of the watch is a not-too-slender, not-too-high 12mm with 20mm lugs. The case design features a nice mix of polished and brushed surfaces.

The first series of the Halios Seaforth was offered as no-date only, and though the Series 3 provided the option to add a date, I stayed with the no-date version on that one as well. Series 1 is powered by the Miyota 90S5, while Series 3 came with an ETA movement. All Seaforths come with 200m water resistance.

It’s hard to think of anything bad to say about the Halios Seaforth. the only thing I can think of is that I do notice a bit of rotor noise. While the noise doesn’t bother me, it is noticeable.

My Series 1, with its dark blue dial and fixed bezel has become my defacto dress watch. With a dark strap it pairs nicely with office attire or a suit, and is slim enough to slip under a shirt cuff. If I should happen to spill something on it or need to get my hands wet for some reason (and with two little kids you may be surprised how often that happens) I know the watch is going be fine.

My Series 3 on the other hand, with its bright orange dial, is my ‘fun watch’. Not having a date means I can grab it and go. The water resistance and solid construction means I don’t need to worry about it, whether I’m at the beach, out with the kids or having dinner with friends. And looking down at the dial of the Halios Seaforth always makes me smile.
