If you have yet to explore the range of watches that the Glashutte based Nomos offer, I would commend you to lose an hour of your life on their website – in fact, one learns a lot about the culture, history and sense of fun that permeates through Nomos from their website. This is a brand that does not take itself too seriously, yet yearns to offer exceptional watches in terms of their quality, originality and value. Moving on from one’s general views of Nomos, it is important to note that this particular example is a Nomos Club Campus Ace. It is a limited edition Club Campus piece (one of just 75) released in conjunction with the Amsterdam jewellers “Ace”. Ace Jewelers have released three Nomos limited edition watches – an Orion, a Zurich World Time and this Club.
The attention to detail by Nomos is always amazing but even more so on this watch. There are three XXX’s on the crown, which represent the symbol of Amsterdam. The red and black/grey tones also represent the Dutch city’s colours in the watch. That this German made watch has such a close relationship with its former foe, the Netherlands, will have a special, collaborative and peaceful meaning for many. At 38.5mm, this Club is a lovely size on many wrists (perhaps not the largest of wrists, though) and with a thickness of 8.5mm housing the Nomos in-house movement the watch sits very comfortably under any cuff. The exhibition caseback allows the owner to enjoy the beautiful Glashutte movement, whilst confirming which number of the 75 made this particular watch is. This is not an “one of 75” type limited edition run, which makes the price point for this watch (1400 Euros on release) to be exceptionally good value for money. In fact, I would struggle to ever think of a better watch that one can buy for the money – at this price point – than a Nomos Glashutte.
